The annual Masters Challenge 5K race for runners age 40 and older is being hosted by the Westchester Track Club this year. The race is set for Saturday, July 20, 9 a.m., at Rockefeller State Park in Sleepy Hollow. Rockland Road Runners, Westchester TC and Taconic Road Runners participate in the race, and the Van Cortlandt Park TC has also been invited. The distance will be “in the vicinity” of 5K. The course starts near the intersection of Eagle Hill Trail and Pocantico River Trail, and primarily traverses the Thirteen Bridges Loop. This is a different course than the one used in the past for the Masters race. The easiest access is from Sleepy Hollow Road, which has dozens of parking spots along its shoulders. Westchester TC is also looking into the possibility of the park waiving the parking fee for the Visitors Center lot at the main entrance off Route 117. If you arrive before 8 a.m., you do not have to pay the fee.
All you masters runners, here’s our chance to win bragging rights from our neighboring clubs “across the pond” in Westchester. Let’s have a strong show of support at this race!
