The annual Masters Challenge 5K will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 7:00 p.m., at Rockland Lake State Park. This race pits RRR versus the Westchester Track Club, the Taconic Road Runners and VCTC, for runners age 40 and older. There are male and female scoring categories for 40+, 50+ and 60+ divisions. Food and beverage donations are welcome for the post-race celebration in the park. This year will be hosted by Rockland at Rockland Lake State Park.
This is a great meeting of the local clubs where we all get together and drink beer and eat a sandwich. Oh, and before that, we run a killer 5k. We’ll meet at Rockland Lake State Park North Lot at 6:00 and go from there.
The race kicks off at 7:00pm. Parking will be free and plentiful. We’ll provide food and beer, but please feel free to bring a rocking desert or something to share. The race is free and open to any runner over 40. That being said, this is a pretty relaxed affair — the timing will be based on your watch and the scoring will likely be done by index card. That’ll make it even more fun. And you can brag about your time without threat of external verification.
All you masters runners, here’s our chance to win bragging rights from our neighboring clubs “across the pond” in Westchester. Let’s have a strong show of support at this race!
