SUMMARY:George Wodicka Hook Half Marathon & 5K
DESCRIPTION:The Hook is a long-standing community half-marathon known for its challenging hill climb in the last few miles. This year’s Half will again start and finish at the Rockland Lakes North Parking Lot (Field #1) by the Pavilion. This year for the first time in the Hook Half history we will have pacers!\nWe are also incorporating a 10K race\, as there are not many local 10K races. Like the Half\, it will start and finish at the North parking lot. Unlike the half\, this will be a fairly flat course with two loops around Rockland Lake. \nThis race benefits Meals on Wheels a local organization that been improving the quality of life for aging Rockland County residents for over four decades. Everyday they provide fresh and nutritious meals to older adults\, while the daily visits provide a vital safety check and friendly conversation that reduces loneliness and isolation.\nAchilles International is a global organization that endeavors to transform the lives of people with disabilities through athletic programs and social connection. Their main program focuses on running\, where they bring hope\, inspiration and the joys of achievement to all. They empower the disability community by breaking down barrier to race start lines\, and all the way to crossing the finish line. \n\n7:30 AM Half Marathon Race Start\n7:40 AM Kids Fun Run\n8:00 AM 10K Race Start\n\nThe Hook Half Marathon and 10K in an inclusive event for all runners\, regardless of race\, religion\, sex\, gender\, or sexual orientation. All are welcome to participate\, and we look forward to seeing you on 19th April! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Half Marathon starts at the Rockland Lake North parking lot and follows the inner lake path clockwise for almost a complete loop. At 2.75 miles\, runners make a 180 degree turn onto Rockland Lake Road. We proceed along the road through rolling hills south to Landing Road and then down (and we mean down) to the footpath along the river where we turn and head south toward Nyack Beach.  Runners proceed through the parking lot\, up the hill and around the toll booth. Runners retrace their steps north along the river then up the big hill to Landing road and back along Rockland Lake Road where they rejoin the inner path at the South Parking lot.  The final 1.5 miles is counterclockwise around the lake path to finish in front to the North Pavilion.  View the route on Strava here.\n\n\n\n\nThe 10K Run / Walk is a family friendly run that comprises two loops around the lake.  The bike path is flat and for speedsters a great place to set a personal best\, and for family and friends of all ages a scenic trip around the lake. \nThe Kids Run Fun is a couple hundred yards out and back along the footpath\, finishing under the Rockland Road Runners arch.

SUMMARY:RRR Monthly Group Run @ Rockland Lake
DESCRIPTION:Our monthly group run at Rockland Lake continues in 2025. We meet at Parking Field #6 (colloquially known as the “Fishing Station”). That’s where runners from around the county typically gather\, so it’s a great opportunity to meet potential training partners. We’ll have someone from Club Leadership there – just look for the RRR Logo. Parking is free at that time of day. In Google Maps\, use Plus Code “43VC+9W Valley Cottage\, New York” \nTypically\, we run one or two loops of the inner path\, clockwise around the lake. That’s 3 miles for each loop. You can run more if you like or incorporate this into your long run. All paces are welcome\, and we will leave no one behind.

SUMMARY:RRR Weekly BRUN a.k.a. Bridge Run
DESCRIPTION:We meet at the Gazebo near the old South Nyack Village Hall at 282 S. Broadway\, and at 7:30 sharp\, we head up the steps to the Esposito Trail and join the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo shared use path across the bridge towards Westchester. \nThis run is for everyone\, regardless of ability\, not just the speedsters and marathon runners. The full distance to Westchester and back is 7 miles but you can turn around at any time. You can even walk if you like. The path is well-lit and monitored by security cameras and we always check that everyone made it back before we leave. There are bathrooms at the Westchester Landing\, and a short walk from the start/finish at the Rockland Landing. \nThe run takes place every week rain or shine. It will only be cancelled if the Thruway Authority closes the path\, which they may do for high wind\, ice or lightning. You can check if the path is open on the bridge home page. It can be blustery out over the water\, so it’s good to wear a wind-proof shell even if it doesn’t seem that cold. After the run\, there may be refreshments at the Gazebo – hot chocolate if it’s cold; water and electrolyte drinks if it’s hot\, but not every week\, so come prepared to rehydrate yourself.
