Welcome to the RRR Strava Connection!

If you are a member of RRR….regardless of your activity level, please check out the Rockland Road Runner’s Club on Strava.  It’s a great way to share runs, rides, swims, and any other activity you’d like to record.  Whether you are training for a 5K, 10K, 1/2, Full, Ultra, Tri, or just enjoying being active, Strava is a great way to share all of our successes – and get moral support and encouragement when we come up  a bit short.

The RRR community has a lot to offer – and by connecting with each other in shared experiences, we’re all the better for it!

Given the current circumstances in which we find ourselves in, many of us are looking for things to do. While spending time with family and loved ones (to the extent that we can) is at the top of the list, knowing our members, running is a not-too-distant second. In an effort to support the efforts to stem the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, we have postponed a number of events and will continue to do so as directed by public health officials, and as such, we are not conducting or condoning any organized group runs or races and recommend that you follow appropriate social distancing for the time being.

This does not mean we are left without options, the running community, specifically the RRR community, is very strong, resilient, and most of all, resourceful. Many runners (as well as swimmers and cyclists) are familiar with the app, Strava, which is essentially a social media community for runners and triathletes.

For those of you that do not know, RRR maintains a “RRR Club” page on Strava.

Strava (and joining our club) is FREE – and Yes, there’s an App for that!

In an effort to leverage the resources available to us, during this time of extreme uncertainty, I encourage our members to join Strava and the RRR Club so that we can continue to do what we love (from a socially acceptable distance) with our own running community.  By registering with Strava and the RRR Club, we will be able to share our runs, communicate with each other and see just how many miles, we as a group, can collectively run (I’m particularly interested in this one!).

As things progress, we will come up with additional ways in which we can challenge ourselves and leverage the Strava platform to engage with one another (albeit at a distance).

Please let me know if you have any questions. Run for the love of it! Gary RRR President
