Keep Rockland Beautiful is honoring club member John Melican and the Rockland Road Runners with its 2012 Adopt-A-Road Award. KRB’s Annual Awards Gala is set for Saturday, Nov. 3, 7 to 10 p.m., at the Rockland County Club, 380 Route 9W, Sparkill. For the past 12 years RRR has held multiple annual cleanups of a 1.3-mile stretch of road at Rockland Lake, from the South entrance to near the firehouse. John has spearheaded the club’s efforts in this project for many years, taking the baton from previous coordinator Enilda Indyk and continuing a proud tradition started by club member and later president Mike Greco.
In its notification letter, KRB saluted the work of John and the club: “This award recognizes your outstanding efforts to beautify Rockland County by cleaning up Rockland Lake Road in Congers … Your leadership and ongoing commitment is exemplary to other organizations and businesses that care about the health and beauty of the environment.”
We sincerely hope RRR members can join us in celebrating this noteworthy honor. Tickets are $75 per person, and $650 for a table of 10. The evening includes a buffet dinner, silent auction and raffles, and jazz music by the Richard Sussman Trio. If you plan to go, please contact Jamie Kempton (president@rocklandroadrunners.org) as soon as possible, and provide your name and mailing address, as KRB will be sending out invitations shortly. Thank you!
