Message from President Jamie Kempton:
Despite the inclement conditions (rain changing to snow), the Nyack Beach cleanup went off without a hitch on Nov. 27 with a large turnout of volunteers. Thanks to Marie Killeen, John Melican, Jesse Hackell, Olga Carriel and any other RRR members who flexed their muscles in helping clean up the parking area. Leaves were raked, limbs and branches collected and carted away, chunks of broken asphalt removed, topsoil spread over exposed roots of the iconic sycamore trees along the seawall, and other tasks were carried out. After park management meets with state officials later this week, they’ll have a better handle on the timetable for recovery of the park & trail and how the public can be enlisted to help in further remediation efforts.
