Message from President Jamie Kempton

RRR reached out to its membership for contributions toward relief efforts for people impacted by Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy. As it has on countless occasions, the club responded generously. On Dec. 3, the club gave a check for $933 to People to People’s Hurricane Sandy relief drive. The money was generated from a 50/50 raffle at the club Holiday Party on Dec. 1 as well as donated checks from participants signed up for the NYC Marathon Bus, which was cancelled. Special thanks goes to club member Eugene Carle, who donated his $311 winning share of the 50/50 raffle.

On Nov. 5, RRR donated $540 to People to People’s Sandy relief drive. That money came from donations made by participants in the RRR Marathon Alternative race Nov. 4, in lieu of entry fees, as well as NYC Marathon Bus donators. Another $30 has been contributed since the Dec. 3 donation was made, which brings the grand total of Sandy relief donations to $1,503.

Well done and thank you, RRR!
