Congratulations to RRR on an excellent showing at the Masters Challenge 5K at Rockefeller State Park. We had 22 people (age 40+) show up and represent the club with distinction, out of 62 total finishers. Alan Young led the way for Rockland, placing fourth overall in a time of 19:57 on a very hill trail course. Pat Kutner was our leading female, placing 41st overall in 26:30. Three cheers for our women’s 60+ team, which won its division for the third year in a row! Way to go, Enilda Indyk and Marie “Grandma” Killeen.

Here are the other age group scores:

Division First Second Third
Men’s 40-49 Taconic (83) Westchester (105) Rockland (113)
Women’s 40-49 Taconic (203) Westchester (204)

Congrats to Taconic for winning four of the six categories. Individually, Greg Diamond of Taconic won in 19:10, followed by Marc Reider of Westchester (19:22), Jay Ryan of Westchester (19:36), Alan Young of Rockland (19:57) and Jay Duggan of Westchester (19:59). Also in the top 10 for RRR were Matthew Goldstein, 8th; Logan Scott, 9th, and Jamie Kempton, 10th. Our other valuable scorers included Doc Bruce Yang, Mike Beckerle, Gary Scarano, Alister Renwick, Andrew Paer, Danny Mitlof, Larry Beckerle, Ed Brown, Patty Ciardullo, Benny Kim, Laura Longing, Mary Pat Wolff, Mark Maidman (wearing an RRR shirt for the first time), and newcomer Christine Torricelli (thanks to Bruce for convincing her to come and run with us). You also deserve a big Rockland pat on the back for a job well done.

Post-race party went well and we thank Enilda for the sandwiches from Bella Vita deli and for Barbara for the fruit desserts. Also thanks to our hosts, Westchester TC, under direction of Wayne Rubin, Andy Kimerling, and the food/beverages catered by the expert Bill Carter. Nice job all the way around!

And lastly, our thanks to RRR sub-masters Jonathan Farrell, Kristen Lowenwirth and Ayako Yamazaki for coming to help out, take photos and support the cause of our old-timers!

Thanks to all those who came out to support us and all of the runners! There was a 152 foot climb on this course. It felt like 952! Great party afterwards.

Another great running experience!!! Barbara and I
assumed this race would be on concrete!!! What A
surprise to find out it was a trail run!!!
I loved the tranquility of this environment, and
running up one of the hills, I past a deer grazing
on some bushes on the left side!!! How cool was that!!

Thanks to RRR who provided excellent sandwiches,
and others who brought food and beverages, and our
    camera crew for the phot
