The Rockland Road Runners Women’s Distance Festival 5K raised more than $8,000 in charitable contributions to the Center for Safety & Change, formerly known as Rockland Family Shelter. A check presentation was held Sept. 3 during the Rockland Road Runners general club meeting at the Nanuet Restaurant. Mike Seidenfrau, co-director of the Women’s Distance Festival, presented a check for $5,000 to Richard Rein, CSC president, and Kathy Bookman, special events coordinator. The check represented the proceeds raised from the race, held July 13 at Rockland Lake. An additional $3,160 in sponsorship funding was donated directly to the center, bringing the total charitable amount from the race to $8,160.

Billie Cronin, secretary of the CSC executive board, accompanied Rein and Bookman at the presentation.
