Thanksgiving Day 2013 was a great day for children with cancer. Almost 3400 participants signed up to run/walk in the 22nd Annual 5 Mile Turkey Trot for The Marisa Fund. It is always my hope that the dollar we need to find the cure for pediatric cancer will be in the money we raise through this amazing event.
I am so grateful to all the sponsors, volunteers and families that make this extravaganza possible. To all those from RRR who stepped up to help us I say, this is why we are thirty years strong. Special thanks goes to Chris, Paula and the staff at Rockland Lake…you guys are great! To all Clarkstown Police and Auxiliary folks…we appreciate your professional support for our race. Our great friends from the Blue Knights…you guys are simply the best. Thanks also to Supervisor Gromack and State Senator Carlucci for all their support and our friends at the Ambulance Corp.
To all my friends, old and new, who serve on the Trot Committee and those who join us for three busy days at Modell’s , I don’t have adequate words to express my gratitude. Thank you all for keeping Marisa in your hearts and walking on the long road to a cure with me.
Other beneficiaries of our race are People to People, The Rockland County Police Hispanic Society and The Vasculitis Foundation…all great people doing great things.
See you next Thanksgiving…thanks for coming out to volunteer, run or walk on a very cold day!
