The club’s next General Meeting is on Tuesday, March 4th. Our guest speaker will be Robert Maher who will be giving a historical talk and book signing.
In 2004, The Friends of Rockland Lake, Inc. was founded as a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the preservation of the local history and the valuable resource of Rockland Lake State Park. Robert Maher, President of the Board, recently published Images of America: Rockland Lake, Hook Mountain, and Nyack Beach. The book chronicles the history of these three New York State Parks through a collection of vintage images. In the book you’ll learn that the area was once one of the largest producers of natural ice and was also the site of large traprock quarries and the thriving town of Rockland Lake.
