What a difference a day makes. On Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after cold rain sent shivers through Manhattan, nearly 20,000 runners enjoyed lovely racing weather at the 2015 United Airlines NYC Half. As participants made their way from Central Park to Lower Manhattan, passing through Harlem, Times Square, and other landmarks along the way, temperatures remained in the 40s with light winds from the north and west.
The weather certainly suited Molly Huddle, who became the first American winner in the event’s 10-year history. Huddle finished in a personal-best 1:08:31, pulling off an upset victory over Joyce Chepkirui of Kenya, who took second with a time of 1:08:42. On the men’s side, it was Kenya’s Leonard Korir taking top honors, outkicking his countryman Stephen Sambu to win by one second with a time of 1:01:06.
Team RRR was lead by Thomas Noonan, 1:26:31, and Carol Guzinski, 1:38:18. We had a total of 29 runners, a great showing for a great race!
